I bought this as a replacement to a GS-MT2 sensor that had failed. The previous sensor worked well enough until it started to short out the battery and drained in about 2 weeks. When the newly purchased sensor arrived, the box indicated that it was a GS-MT! I contacted customer service and a replacement was arranged. Unfortunately, the replacement also indicated that it was a GS-MT.
I reached out to the manufacturer and the support person I connected with indicated that all units being manufactured were GS-MT2. After some more searching they got back to me and reported that marketing had decided to revert the model name back to GS-MT! I checked the label on the sensor itself and the FCC ID was KUTWDGSMT2 which matched the GS-MT2 that had failed.
I had the original version of this sensor which worked for a while until increased RF interference caused it to not work so well, even with a new battery. The new version is a little bigger to accommodate an AA battery (vs the AAA in the original), which should last much longer. More importantly, it has an improved antenna and works perfectly in the same spot as the original.
Literally my ONLY issue is the garage door GS-MT2. These garage sensors are poor.
Every other skylinknet product I have is flawless, but both my garage sensors (replaced twice) consistently don't "register" when the little metal ball inside drops to the contact.
I constantly can't arm my system from the alarm panel when the garage is "showing open". But on the plus, I keep it because I want to know if my garage ever opens in the night. Therefor, with it working EVERY time I open it..... I keep it.
I bought two of these since we two garage doors. I had a little trouble getting them to work properly since my garage doors are all metal and the metal was interfering with the signal. Skylink tech support was great. With their help, I got them working great now. It was recommended to attach the sensors to a piece of wood and attach the wood to the garage door. Also to place the sensors as far apart from each other as possible. So on opposite ends of the garage doors. I now know when the garage door is opened and closed
Works most of the time. Depending on your setup, it might get triggerd a few times for each open and close. It's basically a little ball that when the garage is close, it's free fall to the bottom and as the garage is opening, it rolls to the top side of the switch. As the ball rolls free, if your garage movement is a little jerky, the ball might go back and forth a few time during a single cycle of opening and closing.
Couldn't pair it with the skylink system. I did google search found one pdf that says it needs to be far from wifi router I tried that as well. It still did not pair. After multiple attempts I decided to return it
