The Gerber Curve multi tool is absolutely worthless. I already owned a large Gerber multi tool and thought this mall multi tool would be handy to carry in my pocket. It's useless because once I opened the blade (which then locks in place), I was unable to close it again because the tiny release grid that supposedly releases the lock on the blade was frozen and would not move. I tried lubricating the release grid and pushing it with a screwdriver, but it wouldn't budge. I gave up because I was afraid of cutting my hand on the open blade and tossed it into the trash. Amazon would have refunded my money if I wanted to return it to a nearby store, but it wasn't worth the trouble for a $12 item. I am surprised that Gerber, which has a good reputation for multi tools, would make such a poorly designed and poor manufactured item.
Nuts! The blade release is way too difficult to push down with finger nail. I had to use another tool to work it. Added a little silicone lube, but not much help. ... The three little tools next to blade have no nail catch to open them. Thus, they are next to impossible to open. .... The overall length is about 1/2" too short.
Tiny, flimsy, poorly and very cheaply made. No instructions on closing tools when locked open. Individual tools are very hard to open (with no slot to get hold of, or any other way to separate one tool from rest to open. My impression... you can easily get more and far better for less than this costs.
The locking mechanism is poorly designed. It is very difficult to operate. You need two hands and sometimes a screwdriver to unlock the blade. Additionally the bail on the carabiner is poorly designed. It is a thin wire, which does not look or feel remotely secure. Meaning that the odds that the clasping bad will break and or one will lose the tool easily.
I bought this to replace the knife I put on my keys at work that was lost. Unfortunately it is entirely useless for its purpose as I have to use my nail to operate the closing mechanism which means taking off my glove and struggling with it. The closing mechanism is seemingly always jammed and nearly ripped into my nail many of the times I tried it. Way too much effort for the convenience of a pocket knife. It also doesn't hang on the ring well because the opening is awkwardly shaped making it jut out or not move well at all to get the keys out of the way. Definitely a waste of money for me and I'll be looking for a different choice. I like the theory of it, but it is poorly designed for it's purpose.
I been looking for the perfect “to go knife “ or multi kit for my keys but dang this one to be called this brand ? No this is so hard to open doesn’t cut well. And the whole concept now that I think about it sucks. Maybe perfect for other people but not for me
