First let me say that it was rather difficult how to rate this book. There are no glaring issues to complain about, but it also does not have that MUST READ quality. It is well written--unlike some other books on the subject.
It is a short book that provides brief summaries of just over a dozen Death Row inmates and a few special topics (last meals, lawsuits, weapons, jokers, etc). The book does not give grisly details...you decide whether that encourages or discourages you from reading the book.
This is one of those oddball books with which one might occupy some idle time examining a situation that most of us, in our own lives, would prefer to avoid. It has its merits as a curiosity with a certain macabre flair, but is in no danger of being awarded a Pulitzer. Not for just everybody.
Ty Tredwell has also written a book on the subject of Death Row inmates and their last meals . I found in both books, that the stories told were done so in such a way, that attempted to find humour in areas where I personally felt there really wasnt anything funny , to the point that it was difficult to maintain interest in the book .
I feel the quality of Mr. Tredwells work is good enough that he doesn't need to add the cheap laughs and puns at the end of the chapters that are inserted in places
