Bought this card just over a year ago for my dashcam, expecting my woes of corrupt files etc to be a thing of the past, alas it wasn't the card continued to throw up the occasional hissy fit and required regular manual formatting. I only bought this card as the Transcend card recommended for dashcams was apparently unavailable, I should have waited because I've had nothing but problems with aforementioned corrupt files, had a few 'incidents' not recorded for no good reason, I'd blame the camera but it works better with a Sandisk Ultra (which is probably the worst possible MicroSD card to put in a dashcam!).
All these annoyances came to a head when the card finally decided to stop responding completely today, not being accessible via the camera or PC, tried forcing a format on it, alas it was far too gone for that so after contacting Amazon chat support who kept me waiting about for an inordinately long time to tell me 'sorry you are out of your 30 day return window, please contact the manufacturer', well yes that's where I wanted help getting a RMA (something usually much easier from the retailer). Anyway back to the Card, I can't recommend it, maybe I got a duff one until I find out for sure 2 stars is being generous.
It may seem to be expensive, but the life of all 'solid state' memory devices is limited by the number of re-writes. Dash-cams are particularly hard on memory cards because of the continuous recording. Typically, a 32Gb micro-SD card will hold about 2 hours of video (1080HD) in around 60 (2 minute) files; the whole card is completely re-written every two hours and the file table updated every 2 minutes. Ordinary micro-SD cards aren't designed for, and don't last long with, such intensive use. This one is designed for the purpose and, being a San Disk product, is covered by their warranty. Over several decades, I've never had a San Disk device fail, so while I don't expect this one to last forever, I do expect it to outlast the warranty. It's only had few hours use, so it's far too early to say more than it works faultlessly. If I have any problems, I'll be sure to update this review.
Contrary to what a lot of people think despite no moving parts solid state memory isn't invincible and can only be written to a limited number of times, although, by that I mean many, many times. In the case of a dashcam which usually overwrites video files every 3-5 minutes the memory card gets extensive use. This Sandisk card which is ideal for dashcams works well although at 20Mbps its quoted read/write speed seems modest, but in practice that does not affect the performance and gives good, stable results. This card is also resilient to extremes of temperature that you'd expect in a car plus it would be equally at home in an action cam. Recommended.
After buying 2 red and grey class10 rated SanDisk cards from Asda for my DashCams, which even though stated they were suitable for use in cameras both video and photography, they frustratingly wouldnt work in my dashcams by refusing to read them and kept reporting "card error". They also refused to be formatted by the cam software AND my PC.. I then bought a pair of these other SanDisk cards which are advertised as dedicated for DashCam applications. I inserted them and everything worked first time and as it should. Funny thing is, these are cheaper than the other ones! Moral of story, buy cards for the actual application you require rather than a general card which is "supposed" to be compatible and good for multiple applications. Buy the right thing first time and save yourself some hassle .... and money!! These cards worked brilliantly .... no issues whatsoever.
Forced to buy this type for my Dashcam. What SanDisk has done though is alter their warranty terms. On my last purchase, for a card that failed, it had a 10 year warranty. This one, even though designed for Dashcams, is only two years. At least it wasn't a stupidly expensive card!
With so many fake memory cards around I usually only buy from Amazon SARL as I like to think their sourcing is genuine.
This card is working well in a dashcam, no problems. I don't know if it's marketing fluff about the 'high endurance' feature for video recording, but having read some learned words on the internet I went for this rather than a regular 32Gb.
Used in a dashcam but failed at the 22month mark. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the dashcam wasn't recording anymore until a couple of months later (a few days after the 2 year warranty ran out)...really poor for what's supposed to be a high endurance MLC card and I expected better from Sandisk
Purchased with a dash cam as a tempting daily deal. Always found SanDisk to be very good. But this card is not. Worked for a while, proved by the record time working when dash cam turned on. Left car at airport car park for 2 weeks and then drove home in the snow. Hoping to watch some nice video, when I put card in laptop, no videos to watch, card needs formatting, then when go to format, tells me size in 30mbs! Windows cant format it. Dash cam can't format it. Spend evening looking for solutions. The card shows as RAW and cannot be formatted. Looking to return, but Amazon not making it easy to press buttons.
This is the best card I've ever used in dashcams and that's a fair few. This cured some problems with a Yi Smart dash cam which was throwing up small faults. I've since bought the same card for use in 3 dashcams in my house and all work perfectly now - fault free use. There are cheaper cards out there and they're cheaper for a reason...If you have a dashcam, buy this card - none better in my opinion.
Bought to replace the disk that we originally bought for the dash cam we purchased 2 years earlier, that had been playing up and on reading reviews on this item, realised we may not have had the correct disk in the beginning. So far so good, no problems.
