1,0 de 5 estrelas Our cameras were hacked twice, these cameras put your privacy at risk.
Avaliado nos Estados Unidos em 24 de maio de 2018
Compra verificada
I bought this camera nearly a year and a half ago when we were looking for a solution for keeping an eye on my daughter when she first started sleeping in her crib alone. Out of the various models I tried this was honestly the best, the mounting was decent, the features are all great, we can even use the built in speaker to tell her to leave the blinds alone. Our son will soon be sleeping in the kids room too so this camera ( along with another black version I ordered ) have saved me and my wife tons of sleep and restless nights just being able to tap into the app and sneak a peek at how our daughter looks.

Now for the spooky part. We haven't had any app or hardware issues, but security appears to be what may be this camera or software's fault. This month May of 2018, my son woke up early in the morning around 4am for a late night bottle so I sat in the dark in our living room near my daughters door feeding him with the lights off. About a half hour into sitting in the dark with my son I heard a voice coming from my daughters room indistinguishable to the very end where they said the word "baby". It was a short 3 or 4 word sentence, but it happened. The voice was that of a young boy or woman. I was clearly rattled and logged into the camera to find her rolling around as if she had been nearly awakened. I then started to remember all of the various times I'd log into my cameras and find them pointing in completely random positions, facing a dresser or facing a doorway that leads to our living room. This issue also called into question my router which I will be upgrading also due to not having any logging capabilities for devices connected to it, but I searched the Yi Home app for any logs or IP statistics which it does not have, it only graphs how much you've used Cellular vs wifi to access the cameras. I had been using the cameras with the same password since day one with only myself and my wife having access to the app, so I changed the password and added a 4 digit pin to each camera.

After getting over my own anger/spooked out feeling I brought it up to my wife and she also said she has heard voices coming from the room, similar sound, and she's heard the phrase "wake up baby" or a quick yell. That only confirmed what I had heard and after reading some of the posts around the internet regarding hackers or losers with nothing else to do other than to hack into accounts and tell children to kill themselves I think it's only appropriate that Yi starts adding some kind of backend IP logging feature to show what IP, what login, and timestamps of all usage for at least a weeks period in case anyone were to have these kinds of issue. Since changing our password we haven't heard anything new, but I'm not sure exactly how easily defeated these security measures are for a seasoned ip camera hacker.

The next incident we have these are coming off the wall. It's been at least two years of private moments in and out of that room that could have possibly been heard/viewed and its creepy that someone might have been watching as my wife changed our babies diaper or tried to wake my daughter up to ruin our night. Aside from this very disturbing event, these cameras have been a great purchase, just be aware when purchasing...set as many passwords and security measures as you can. And also keep an eye on what position you leave these in, if you leave them pointed in a specific direction such as the baby crib and repeatedly find them pointed in other directions you may have someone else accessing them.

--- Update 6/9/18

These cameras are indeed very hackable. After changing passwords and adding a pin number to the cameras we had another incident tonight with someone watching our daughter as she was going to sleep. My daughter was calling for Mommy or daddy and my wifes curiosity was sparked, she logged into the cameras and was able to clearly hear talking and munching/crunching of potato chips of whoever was viewing our cams. It's disgustingly creepy and be warned I am removing these cameras from our walls. The manufacturer of these cameras has failed to safeguard your privacy.

We have the intrustion recorded on video.

I purchased two (2) cameras in July 2018 - one for my home and one for my office. I have seven (7) cameras from YI.
At the end of December 2020, both cameras cease to work. I tried all of the troubleshooting suggested by YI and the suggestions on the company's website. The fixes did not resolve the problems with both cameras. I wrote to the company to see what they could do to effectively resolve my issues. The representative at YI hide behind the fact that the cameras were outside of the warranty period and they would only consider any replacement of the cameras if I decided to purchase their cloud subscription. Rather than using some degree of discretion with an aim of ensuring a positive customer experience, I feel like they are trying to extort me into buying more from them despite the fact that I have been a proven and loyal client. I feel quite shafted by the company in not being more sensitive and reasonable in addressing my needs. Buyers beware applies in this case... This is unfortunate since the products did work well in the beginning... but now I am left somewhat unsupported!

October 13, 2021 update: ZERO STARS. Camera is on the fritz. Will turn on but it gets stuck part way trying to open the shutter. Tried resetting it, deleting and adding camera, unplugging it, getting a new memory card for the past few days and nothing works. Camera didn't even last 2 years, piece of junk! The app is equally frustrating and useless. Every subsequent update makes it practically unusable. Always takes several tries to connect to the server. The most concerning thing is the camera will randomly turn on. Camera is going into the garbage. Never buying YI products again.

January 2, 2020: I purchased this camera as a cat camera and is only turned on when I leave my house. I did not opt in for the cloud storage and only have an SD card.

Pros:
- Quality of the clips are great, including low light scenarios.
- Ability to bookmark the various angles is a good feature

Cons:
- The app is not the most intuitive
- Does not always detect all major movements, which defeats the purpose of the camera
- Playback of clips is slow when the server doesn't want to cooperate, which seems to be more frequent
- There are glitches where deleted clips are not deleted and showed up during playbacks from previous days

If you are concerned about privacy, you're better off finding a different camera which does not store the clips on a server.

1,0 de 5 estrelas Do Not Purchase Anything from This Brand

This product came with a cable that did not work so not off to a great start. The manufacturers are money hungry cut throats. They do not allow you to record anything beyond 30 minutes unless you purchase their cloud plan (even if you're storing your recordings onto your laptop or SD card. This camera records motion activity with a 6 second limit.

Their goal in producing these camera products is not to get you a great security camera but to get you to buy their unnecessary cloud.

1,0 de 5 estrelas Very disappointing. Received a used damaged one

Very disappointed with this purchase. Maybe the camera, if new, performs well. But I received a damaged and clearly used one. One section of the front piece of the camera was unattached (uncoupled) and the camera doesn’t spin up. It can pointed down but it hangs when trying to move it up, it stops at the straight angle and it starts to make noise while trying to spin up but it fails.

Really disappointed for buying a new item but getting someone else junk!!

The cloud service is constantly down, so i end up not being able to connect to my cameras. video quality is terrible. there is no way this camera actually provides 1080 resolution. It shows that it offers 25 fps but with how poor these connect its more like 1 fps at MOST. I have list upon lists of false motion notifications from dust specs floating across the lens so I've turned those off because they serve no purpose other than to annoy me. The audio quality is also terrible and the intercom feature seems to only work 10% of the time.

06/10/2019 - this camera has begun restarting itself every half hour or so, I can’t figure out how to fix it. Might need to be replaced.

1,0 de 5 estrelas FirmWare Update Kills the Camera and Makes an Expensive Paper Weight
Avaliado em Singapura em 9 de abril de 2021

Was Delivered on 25th December 2020. Happy Xmas. I bought 2 of these cameras.
All worked well on both cameras. There are issues on the app side with iphone / ipay for cloud versus email but support helped on that and resolved. register an email and not the apple id and all good.

However in March 2021, firmware got updated on this camera. It stopped working. Only happened on 1 camera luckily. Checked refund from seller and that was only 1 month so gone.

Contacted and worked with support but they have said its dead get a refund. Didn't buy from them so go back to amazon. Its one expensive paper weight now!

Tried the manual fixes on firmware by using sd card. Nothing works on this model. YHS-2016 chipset. So all the hacks out there not relevant.

My advise DON'T waste your money on this purchase unless you in the market for a paper weight!

I barely write negative feedback. Unfortunately company forces customer to buy monthly plan for having all good features . Absurd.
Night vision is terrible.
Device only works with 2.4 ghz WiFi.
That means if in future if router companies decides not providing 2.4 ghz , you need to buy a new one.
Also that means the electronic parts technology in this device is at least 10 years old.
Quality of picture is not good.
My camera doesn’t rotate any more.
Do not recommend this.

1,0 de 5 estrelas Don't buy this... useless camera
Avaliado no Canadá em 13 de dezembro de 2021

There are several issues with this product:
- The quality of images are very poor- especially at night;
- Many activities/ motions are missed among other motions and you can't see them;
- We were tolerating and living with these issues but recently, they kept pushing us to purchase the cloud while we have been using SD card. We refused purchasing the could and now it doesn't show us activities. We did everything (e.g., reset, reinstalled) but it doesn't show us the activities on the SD card. Its a scam to sell the cloud services.
- So the bottom line its a useless camera in our house now.
