I bough it because of the Prime Day sale at 1/2 for 2. That is about the best I can say about it.
Video can be viewed on an Echo Show, but it takes a lot longer to connect than with the app. It only has a Android/Apple app, no PC/MAC app.
I was jazzed that it had motion detection. Well it detects bees, cars in the area marked not to detect anything and cuts off after X seconds of video when there is still motion. I bumped it up to longer and now the app nags me multiple times a day about it.
Biggest annoyance of all? I go to watch the camera get a live feed and 5-10 seconds in it stops. I get a message about longer using up the batteries too quickly and it won't last 2 years if I do it that way. The camera is hooked to a USB cable I used silicon caulk to seal into place so I didn't have to get on a ladder, hopefully never, to change the batteries.
I could deal with all of that if I could actually use it with Alexa like every other vendor's camera. All this lets me do is to view the camera or arm/disarm the system. The only integration is with If This Then That (IFTTT) and that is a pay service that has no way, that I have found, to send alerts to Alexa that there is motion detection, which is the reason I bought the camera.
Don't bother buying it for a security camera either. My kids were playing in the driveway and it was getting quick little clips every 2-5 minutes. Support was... Well... I get more assistance calling my ISP, TV Provider, and Cell Phone providers.
This is a horrid product. I would return it but I'm not all that interested in climbing up 3 stories on a ladder to take it back down again.
The description says this is compatible with Blink XT & new gen Blink Outdoor. Sort of true. The new gen Blink Outdoor cameras do fit nicely in the frame, but the opening in the front is not wide enough, so the Blue LED motion detection indicator, and the 2-way microphone are under the frame. I'll be returning this and looking for a mount with a wider window for the front of the camera.
This product was a disappointment. The housing nearly doubles the size of the camera, and requires 4 tiny screws to open or close. To make maters worse, there is no gasket, or double lip on the seam, so i'm not understanding how it makes the hlusing weatherproof. Finally the reason most would purchase this, the mount. This product is so bulky, it can't support the weight of the camera and housing, so it's constantly creeping. This was a huge waste of time and money. Avoid this product.
Will work only for the newest Blink outdoor camera. The camera I purchased at the same time as the covers fits perfectly. My 3 previous cameras do not allow the cover locking ring to snap into place. It appears previous cameras are a bit thicker. These covers are hard plastic and give no allowance for fit. I will be ordering the more flexible rubber covers available.
The housing is okay, at best. Four little screws hold the front and back pieces together, and I’m fairly certain that the majority of them stripped on the way in. The mounts don’t have the greatest range of motion, but they seem to be on par with the different mounts on Amazon, except these are made a little cheaper. One of the mounts cracked while tightening it down. It shouldn’t crack under the force of hand tightening.
Bought the 2-pack. One of them seems to work but they he other one has a much no of its own. Can’t seem to figure out why I get a 12 second video of a 24 hr span of time. And sometimes it doesn’t pick up people coming up to my door.
Bought for low price and positive reviews.. i dont trust the long cheap pot metal screw open to the elements to last long. Brittle dollar store plastic nut that buckles when tightening down to lock camera into position. I'll be using the mounts that came with the camera. I Consider the 15 bucks a loss. Not worth the hassle.
I have XT2 cameras and they did not fit in the case the way you would think they would, I had to turn the camera sideways to get the cover to close, so the lip assumed to provide some shade to the camera is on the side of the mount and not the top. I ordered another case and they worked fine, not worth the hassle to return for the price, but would not buy again
Mounted vertically these on the underside of my roof eave and after pointing the camera I go to tighten the mount down with the turn knob and it strips and jumps the thread. I can easily move my camera around with the mount being as tight as it would go. I've mounted two cameras this way and it happened with both. Think I'll end up using some super glue to hold it in place.
I got these because they are cheap. And you definitely get what you pay for. I would not get these ones. Spend an extra 10$ and get better ones. Putting these together is just ridiculous and at first we didn’t think the screws they came with would even work! Cheap.
