First, it's a small stand that allow tilting the echo show. This is a must-have for video call if you don't want to stretch your neck every time to fit in the camera view. Second, this should comes with the base unit, period. A small piece of plastic + magnet probably cost less than 5$ to manufacture. so selling it separately for 35$ is nothing less than pure robbery on Amazon part.
We bought this as a gift when it was on a special offer, although it was still a lot for a small piece of plastic costing about 50pence to actually make. The box is probably more expensive to make, but the idea was to boost their Show up off of a kitchen worktop and allow them to angle the Show.
We have a 10” Show with a stand and it’s perfect for it and makes a real difference. The stand for the 8” Show is little more than useless. The Show sits perched on it and there is no real ‘click’ to connect them together, so any movement such as wanting to adjust the angle (a key consideration for buying it) results in it coming off the stand. Useless.
It needs to fit together securely as the one for the larger Show does otherwise you’ll probably end up gluing them together.
That said, the recipients appreciated the thought!
This costs £25, it's plastic not metal and the fact that this is a tillable stand that does not tilt into the upright position is ridiculous, the larger screen size makes this all the more apparent. Unfortunately at the moment there are no alternatives available in the UK. Ok it's well made and it fits but it's only worth around half that price.
I decided to invest in a stand for my new Echo Show 8, as I thought that would make it easier to use, more versatile, and it would look good. I overlooked the vastly inflated price (I think it should realistically be priced around £12.99) and ordered on a 25% discount offer. As soon as the stand arrived I eagerly fitted it to my Show, which was extremely easy to do. The good points are the super-easy magnetic fitting, and the sturdiness of the stand. Sadly, there were negatives...as soon as it was fitted I realised that it made the Show look somewhat old-fashioned, retro almost. Yes, I had seen the pictures but it wasn't until I saw it in situ that I realised it had almost a 70s look, a bit like an old-fashioned monitor, and wasn't quite what I wanted. The main problem though, was the NOISE! As soon as I adjusted the angle there was a loud creaking, grinding noise. As I intended the Show for bedroom use the noise was unacceptable unless I wanted to wake my partner every time I adjusted it. I moved the angle multiple times thinking it would ease the noise, but no, it made no difference at all. Sadly, the stand had to be returned. If the price was altered, the design updated, and the noise issue eradicated, this would be a great product. For now, my Show is happily stand-less and is likely to remain that way.
I saw this on special offer and bought 2, one each for myself and daughter. When mine arrived o was surprised to see that it was a piece of plastic that gave limited movement to the alexa device and at £20 thought I had made a serious error of judgment. I kept the devices as they worked as advertised so my bad.
