She is a great designer, but the book is just a bunch of beautiful photos and small paragraphs to reinforce the fact that she is a good designer that “has has strongly worded debates with installers showing me a curtain rod is level when it clearly is not”. Give me a break!! If you want to read an interesting book, plenty of tips and passion about interior design, buy “Styled: Secrets for arranging rooms, from tabletops to bookshelves” by Emily Henderson
This is a beautiful book, stuffed full of lovely photographs. The author's design style is clearly lovely and there is some useful information in here, though mainly illustrated by huge, expensive houses. 4 rather than 5* for me because I found the author's writing style fairly self-absorbed and irritating I'm afraid.
I was intrigued only by the cover which is pretty but is the extent of it. Boring and bland, the author titles one page 'It's all about colour' and then proceeds to put no colour! Soulless, samey staged photos, even the wall art in the photos are weird, nothing stands out or no wow factor in the entire book. If you love bland and boring then I recommend this.
This is the most informative interiors book I have read. It is written in an easy, relaxed style. The author has a real passion for interiors and she shares her tips and styling with you. It is beautifully photographed with practical advice for you to adapt. I read every page. Even looked to see if the author had released any other books but disappointed to find she has only written one. A must buy.
The book is full of beautiful photos. I don't follow Amber Lewis on social media so I found it inspiring for ideas on how to put together a neutral palette without being boring. However, this book is not an instructional or helpful to non-designers as it claims to be. Furthermore, she is a terrible writer and her self-congratulatory tone is very cringeworthy. Nonetheless, I don't regret buying the book. I will look at the pretty photos but definitely won't read it again.
