The True Crime Seven team now includes Nancy Alyssa Veysey and Kurtis-Giles Veysey as authors, joining Ryan Becker, Genoveva Ortiz, Brenda Brown, James Parker, and Kelly Gaines – a cluster of authors who delve into the heinous crimes of the past and mold them into stories that become vivid as reportage while entertaining as reading adventures. Their goal: ‘to simply explore and tell the stories of various killers in the world: from unknown murderers to infamous serial killers.’
In the introductory comments, the authors state, ‘Serial killers – those who study them, write about them, track them down, and those dedicated to obtaining justice for the victims and their loved ones - have intrigued and fascinated many…we have dedicated much of our time to study the criminal mind and serial murder, historically and present day, the repercussions of serial murder, and how it has shaped what we think and feel... Psychosocial development, what we consider to be “normal” and where it seems to veer off course, is fascinating. What we want to know is: what happened, and could it have been prevented. We hope to dispel the notion some are “born evil.” That tone of presentation their cases makes this book immediately accessible to all readers.
Initiating this book with a very helpful definition of the aspects of investigating serial killers’ minds, manner of perception and execution of their crimes along a fine discussion of the study of psychopathology with some history of such crimes, makes this new book particularly erudite. Their description of research and findings about traits of serial killers is enlightening and interesting to note.
The section on Facts & Figures is a series of very brief but fascinating, informative views presented in a manner that makes for easy absorption and is followed by a series of trivia quizzes (with answers!) makes this overview of serial killers a fast and entertaining read. This new series – True Crime Fanatics – expands the purview of crime novels by the True Crime Seven, Terrifying facts related in a manner that allows the reader to enter the minds of the perpetrators. I am a professor when it comes to the study of useless information and this is one of my favorite textbooks. I especially love the trivia quiz and the cheat sheet. They also have factoid and things you didn’t know you wanted to know about serial killers the whole book is very entertaining and I highly recommend it! A fabulous entertaining book!
This trivia book about serial killers is interesting. Of course it makes you want to know more. Many of the names I wasn't familiar with so then the trivia means nothing. It could be a little better organized. It doesn't really have any format. Quick read.
