This is an update to another Craftsman screwdriver that just doesn’t perform nearly as well. To get the various bits you have to unscrew a cap — which to me is just one more thing to lose — and a barrel with the bits comes all the way out, making it also something to lose. The cap feels cheap and it is very difficult to remove the individual bits. The screwdriver works as it should and locks appropriately but it just doesn’t have a good ergonomic feel.
The screwdriver came with the Phillips bit already in it. However, the bit is jammed in and cannot be removed. I tried everything I could to get it out. I even went online to craftsman to see if I was missing some kind of button or something to release it. No manual, no FAQs, nothing.
So it is getting returned. My how Craftsman has fallen. That is, if this is even Craftsman and not a fake.
Got this for the double ratchet feature just like everyone else, but like others have stated, once put under even the lightest load, the 2x ratchet feature is JUNK. Gets all rough and pretty much stuck. This thing is pointless to get otherwise. No different than any other ratcheting driver. I'm sure half of these (maybe) work fine, but mine didn't.
I already have another brand but gave 2 of these for gifts. Checked one of them out and really liked it. Onboard storage for 18 different bits and a built in extension. Someone else mentioned that the handle is fat but I guess I’m just used to that but if you have small hands keep that in mind. Once you get used to the ratcheting handle it will be one of your favorites because the speed and ease you can install and remove many different fasteners.
