Horrible book. The murder of Emma by her "best friend" was inexcusable but was really passed over as a troubled teen makes error but let's look away. Too much of what the victim was thinking during the murder is reported as actual thoughts when the child did not survive and no one actually knows what she was feeling. But as all of that pales in comparison to the trial. The killer " can't remember" " blacked out" "troubled youth" so it all results in 7 years for murder !!!! I thought the American Judicial System was bad, Canada is worse! That family has to live with their child had her life ripped from her and the scum that did it essentially got away with a slap on the wrist!
Canadian police come off in this book as being incredibly stupid. Have they never heard of DNA? Do they not have television in Canada? It is just annoying to see cops running around trying to solve for Several years that in the United States would have been solved quickly
